Workers’ Compensation is the by-product of the overall culture of safety within an organization. The key is communication and how a manager manages their employees.
During this program we will focus on reviewing the workers’ compensation landscape in NYS which is ever changing and its impact on operations. The impact to the employee that is injured, their peers, the organization
You will leave with a guide on how to turnover vacancy rates, increase employee satisfaction, and tips for training and education that effect the company and bottom line. You will also get the 5 key best practices that can be implemented instantaneously. These best practices are considered High Impact, but Low Effort for any organization. They are not complex and easy to implement regardless of the size of the organization!
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
• Understand the NYS Workers’ Compensation Landscape
• Impact when there are lost work days due to an injury
• Understand 5 key evidence based best practices in workers’ compensation (Culture of Communication, Timely Notice, Performing a Proper Accident Investigation, Transitional Duty Work Accommodations, Tracking and Goal Setting)
• Understand better the relationship between pre and post event interventions
Monica Manske, our own GVC SHRM Board Member will be leading this program. Monica is a 20 year industry professional in insurance and risk management. She has previously worked for CIGNA Group Insurance, Sutherland Group and has been with Rochester General Health System for 12 years in the role of Manager, Workers’ Compensation/Leave Admin and Team Member Safety. Through her experience she has had oversight of: Claims Management, Benefits Administration, Workers’ Compensation, Leave Administration, Unemployment Insurance, Safe Patient Handling, Ergonomics and Employee Safety Programs. She holds her MSM from Nazareth College, obtained her Group Insurance Certification from Health Insurance Association of America and is active in her community.
