Position Summary

The Employee Relations Specialist will work with managers and employees to assure a strong partnership with staff at all levels, resulting in high levels of employee engagement and satisfaction, providing communication, resources, and solutions to employee relations issues that result in win-win outcomes. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct Employee Relations experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of Human Resources practices and processes.
  • Knowledge of employment laws such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, AAP, NYS PFL, etc.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Labor Laws.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now highly preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess a customer service mentality.
  • Proven experience in independently managing key employee relations process including:
    • employee relations management / best practices, 
    • conflict resolution, 
    • coaching employees,
    • interpreting and applying policies, 
    • ensuring compliance with employment laws and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels both inside and outside of Company. 
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized and able to prioritize.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.



Job Description
Provide coaching, guidance, and recommendations regarding employee relations issues including, but not limited to progressive discipline and termination, actively responding with sensitivity and appropriate sense of urgency, and in support of our open door policy.
Understands employment-related laws and guidelines and ensures compliance.
Investigates, documents and represents HCR in a variety of employee-related issues (including but not limited to EEOC claims, harassment, discrimination, alcohol/drug, safety, corporate compliance issues) incidents and complaints, resolve disputes and recommends appropriate action(s) in partnership with HR and Functional management on the outcome. 
Assists managers with the development of corrective, developmental and performance improvement plans.
Other Human Resources duties as assigned.
